Teachers, summer camp professionals, social workers, charity workers, role models. In some regard the people employed in these roles and countless other professions are actively involved in enhancing the lives of those around them, and more specifically in youth development. Beyond the broad spectrum of youth development what do these people have in common? What is it that drives a person to spend their lives working towards the goal of helping others? What is it that connects youth workers is the question that this Blog will try to answer.
This blog will not be my rambling thoughts and opinions on a subject, but rather an opportunity to discover more about the youth development industry. Through a series of interviews with people who either are currently or have previously worked in youth development I hope to discover more about this incredibly valuable industry. With job titles and responsibilities that vary massively, I hope to discover through that diversity the key elements that motivate a person to work on youth development.
Do you work in the youth development industry or have done so in the past? If so I would love to hear from you. For each of the blog posts I will write a short bio of the work you do which is a great way to raise exposure of your work within the community. Interviews can be conducted over Skype (or similar) and only take 20 - 30 minutes, or I can even send a short question sheet for you to give give written feedback. If this sounds like something you would be interested in then please get in touch!
